Choose Anything if you want an AI agent that takes one Expo app all the way to the iPhone App Store, with web publishing, payments and a Postgres database in the same place, and you are ready to pay from the first build: as of November 2026 its docs say building needs a paid plan, from US$19 a month billed annually. Choose App Builder Agent if Android is your launch platform and you want a working app on your phone before you pay: you describe it, tap through it in the emulator preview, change it by chatting, and press Download APK. Both write real React Native code you can see; only Anything builds and submits iPhone apps for you.

Who each tool is for

Anything (anything.com) is the AI app builder that used to be called Create, at create.xyz. It relaunched under the new name in 2025, and published backend functions still live at a created.app address. Search results for "Anything" are crowded, which is why this page says "the Anything AI app builder" throughout. As of November 2026 it describes itself as an AI agent that builds mobile and web apps from a conversation. Mobile apps are Expo (React Native) code and web apps are React; you can open the code in Code mode. The builder shows a device-frame preview in the browser. To test on a real phone you connect an Expo access token and scan a QR code with Expo Go, and you need that for camera, GPS and other phone features, which the browser preview cannot run.

Publishing is the strong part. For iPhone, an App Store Review step checks your app against Apple's guidelines, then Anything builds the app in the cloud and uploads it to App Store Connect, usually in 30 minutes or less, for testing in TestFlight. For Android, Google Play publishing is in beta: Anything builds the app bundle and uploads it to your internal testing track as a draft. Web apps publish to a free Anything subdomain, with custom domains on paid plans. Behind every app is a shared backend: serverless functions, a Postgres database with separate development and production copies, sign-in by email and password, Google, Facebook or X, Stripe and RevenueCat payments, and built-in AI features plus more than 40 integrations. Its Max mode opens your app in a real browser or on a simulated iPhone, tests it like a user would and fixes what breaks. It suits founders building one product for iPhone, Android and web who are happy to pay monthly.

App Builder Agent puts Android first. You describe the app in plain English; an AI agent writes one React Native codebase (or Flutter, if you ask); the app runs in the emulator preview in the builder, where you tap through it; and you change anything by chatting. Download APK in the Preview tab gives you a file to install on any Android phone, and paid plans add a signed APK plus AAB for Google Play. The free plan starts with Google sign-in, builds your first app and includes a free APK download of it. Paid plans add continued editing, more projects, unlimited APK builds and source export, and a React Native or Flutter export can be built for iPhone with Xcode. A hosted backend with an online database, sign-in and an admin panel is added when you ask. AI features in the app use the AI backend that comes with the project. The same account builds websites and games. It suits people who want to test an idea on Android phones this week.

Choose Anything if

  • Your first market is the iPhone App Store and you want the builder to run the review check, the cloud build and the upload to App Store Connect for you.
  • You want one product on iPhone, Android and the web with a shared backend and a Postgres database you can export as SQL.
  • You plan to sell in-app subscriptions: Stripe and RevenueCat are part of the Pro plan.
  • You want an agent that tests its own work: Max mode opens the app in a real browser or a simulated iPhone and fixes what breaks, on plans from US$199 a month billed annually.
  • You need a custom domain for the web version, which Pro includes.

Choose App Builder Agent if

  • Your launch platform is Android, or Android first with iPhone later from the exported source.
  • You want to start free and install a working app on a real phone before you decide to pay.
  • You want to share a build by sending an APK, with no Play Console setup and no Expo account on each tester's phone.
  • You prefer 30-day plans that do not renew automatically over a monthly subscription with expiring credits.
  • You also want a website or a game from the same account. The booking apps in the gallery show the kind of app a single description produces.

The same app in each tool

Take a small business owner's first app: a personal trainer who wants clients to book sessions, pay for a pack of ten and get a reminder the day before. In Anything you describe it in a few sentences, say it is a mobile app, and refine the design and features by message. You scan the QR code with Expo Go to check the camera-free parts on your phone, ask the agent to add user accounts and Stripe for the session packs, and publish the backend first. Then you run App Store Review, submit to the App Store and test the build in TestFlight, and connect Play Console to send the Android bundle to internal testing. For a trainer whose clients mostly carry iPhones, this is a well-designed path, as long as you budget for the plan and Apple's account.

In App Builder Agent you open the AI app builder and describe it:

Build an Android app called "Coach Slot". Clients see my weekly calendar of one-hour sessions and book a free slot. They sign in with email, buy a pack of ten sessions with Stripe checkout, and see how many they have left. A reminder notification the day before each session. My admin screen lists bookings by day, lets me block out holidays and mark no-shows. Clean white design with a teal accent.

The app appears in the emulator preview within minutes. You book a slot as a fake client, check that the pack counter goes down, then refine: "let clients cancel up to 12 hours before", "add a waiting list for full slots", "send me a notification when someone books". Sign-in and the bookings list bring in a hosted backend with an online database. The Stripe checkout uses your own Stripe account. Download APK in the Preview tab gives you a build to install on your phone and send to five regular clients; if one of them sees "App not installed", install an APK on Android covers the fixes. The signed build on a paid plan gives you the APK and AAB for Google Play. The details for this kind of app are in build a booking and appointment app, and the one-click starting point is the booking app maker.

What to expect if you switch

From Anything to App Builder Agent. There is no project import. Anything lets you download the full project as a zip and export your database as SQL files. Keep both: the Expo code and the screens are a good specification to describe from, screen by screen, and the data can be re-entered or loaded once the new backend is in place. If your app is already on Google Play, an update to that listing has to use the same package name and be signed with the key Google Play expects, and Anything's docs note that the package name cannot change after publishing; check what you hold before you move. You gain a free start, an APK you can send to anyone and plans that do not renew automatically. You lose Anything's App Store submission, its TestFlight flow, Max mode and custom domains for the web version.

From App Builder Agent to Anything. On a paid plan, export the complete project and keep it. Anything's docs list imports from Figma, Mobbin, Sleek and Mocha, not from an exported React Native project, so moving there means describing the app to its agent with your exported app as the reference. Budget for a paid plan from the first message, and for Apple's developer account if iPhone is the reason for the move.

Using both. A small business can prototype on Android with App Builder Agent's free plan, hand the APK to a few real customers and fix what they trip over. If the idea proves itself and iPhone users matter, a paid Anything plan gives a direct route to the App Store. Keep the exported code from both, so a developer can pick up either version later.

Tip: before you pay for any builder, write down the three screens your first users must have and the one thing they must be able to do. The tool that gets those working on their phones soonest is the right one for this month.

Free options, stores and iPhone

As of November 2026 Anything's docs say building requires a paid plan. Pro costs US$19 a month billed annually or US$24 monthly with 20k credits, and Max plans start at US$199 a month billed annually; unused monthly credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. App Builder Agent's free plan starts with Google sign-in, builds your first app and includes a free APK download of it. Paid plans add continued editing, unlimited APK builds, source export and publishing websites to a link. For Google Play, both end in an AAB, and Google's one-time US$25 developer registration applies; new personal accounts must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before production. See publishing on Google Play from the US, UK or EU and signed APK and AAB for the Play Store. For iPhone, Anything is the direct route, with Apple's US$99 a year developer program. App Builder Agent's route is the source export plus Xcode on a Mac, explained in can an AI app builder make an iPhone app. What a free plan should really include is covered in AI app builder free plan: what you really get, and the wider field in best AI app builders in 2026.
