Salon and barber booking app for your shop, built without code

Give your salon or barbershop its own booking app: services, stylists, live slots, reminders, deposits and an owner calendar, built by describing it to an AI agent, no code.

A salon or barbershop can have its own booking app, with services, stylists, working hours, live slot availability, reminders, deposits by payment link and an owner calendar, by describing it to App Builder Agent. The AI agent writes the code, shows a phone preview in the browser, and you adjust it in plain English. A first version fits in the Free plan (500K AI tokens a month; free APK download); unlimited builds and source export are $1.49 per 30 days on the Member plan at the time of writing. Clients install it from a link or from Google Play; iPhone clients use the web version.

Most salons and barbershops in the US, UK, Canada and the EU book through a SaaS that charges per seat or per booking, lists you next to competitors, and owns the client list. The alternative used to be a developer quote. Now it is a prompt: your services with durations, your stylists, your hours, your no-show rule. This guide covers what a shop booking app needs, the prompt to paste, what the first minutes look like, getting it onto clients' phones, and what it costs in dollars, pounds and euros. The general mechanics of slot calculation are in the booking and appointment app guide; this article is the salon-specific version.

What the app needs

  • Services with duration and price. Skin fade 30 min, cut and beard 45 min, full colour 120 min. Duration drives the slot calculation, so get these right before anything else.
  • Stylists or barbers with their own hours. Each staff member has days, hours, breaks and holidays. Clients pick a person or "anyone available".
  • Live slot picker. A calendar, then the times actually free for that service and that person, computed from duration plus a buffer (10 to 15 minutes to sweep up).
  • Confirmation and reminders. A confirmation screen with a reschedule button, a notification the evening before and one hour before.
  • Client profile and history. Last visit, usual service, colour formula notes visible only to staff, no-show count.
  • Deposit or cancellation rule. A payment link for a deposit on long services, or "cancel up to 3 hours before". The app holds the booking as pending until the owner confirms the deposit.
  • Owner calendar. Day and week view per chair, drag to reschedule, block time, add a walk-in in two taps, mark no-show, daily takings summary.
  • Gallery and rebook. Photos of recent work, and a "rebook the same" button on the last appointment, which is where most repeat bookings come from.

The prompt to paste

Sign in to the AI app builder with a Google account, create a mobile app project and paste this with your own services and staff:

Build a booking app for "Fade Room" barbershop in Manchester, prices in GBP. Services: Skin fade (30 min, 22), Cut and beard (45 min, 30), Beard trim (15 min, 12), Kids cut (20 min, 15). Barbers: Dan (Tue to Sat 9 to 6), Marcus (Wed to Sun 10 to 7), 10-minute buffer after every appointment, closed on bank holidays. Clients sign in with Google or with name and phone, pick a service, a barber or "anyone", a date and a free slot computed from the service duration and existing bookings. Confirmation screen with reschedule and cancel (cancel allowed up to 3 hours before), reminder notifications the evening before and one hour before. Client profile shows history and a "rebook the same" button. Owner login: day and week calendar per barber, drag to reschedule, block time, add walk-in with name and phone, mark no-show, daily takings summary, CSV export. Staff-only notes per client. Deposits for services over 25 pounds via our Stripe payment link, booking pending until the owner confirms. Hosted backend. Black and brass design.

Put the real durations in. The agent computes availability from them and tests the buffer, and the first preview will already refuse to offer 5:45 pm for a 45-minute service that closes at 6.

What you get in the first minutes

The agent writes the app in React Native, deploys the hosted backend (database, sign-in, file storage on the platform's servers) and shows the client app in a phone-shaped preview beside the chat. Book Dan for a cut and beard at 5 pm and check that 5:30 is gone and the next slot after the buffer is 5:55 or later; try a Monday and confirm Dan is not offered. Switch to the owner login and see the booking on the day calendar.

Then refine in plain English: "show each barber's photo on the picker", "kids cut should only be bookable before 4 pm", "the reminder text should include our address and a link to reschedule", "add a 'running 15 minutes late' button for the owner that notifies the next three clients". Two rules to ask for early: a slot is confirmed by the backend only if it is still free at the moment of saving (two phones can tap the same 3 pm), and times are stored in UTC and shown in the shop's time zone so the clocks changing in March and October do not shift the calendar.

Getting it onto phones

Your own phone and the front desk get the APK first: choose Download APK from the preview and install it directly. The free download covers a test phone; the Member plan's unlimited builds cover the shop devices. Then the clients: a QR code on the mirror and the counter, the link in your Instagram bio and in the confirmation text. Android installs from the link after one confirmation; installing an APK on Android explains the warning screen.

For a Play Store listing, ask for a signed store build: the builder creates and encrypts a signing key for the project and produces a signed APK and AAB with a package id like com.faderoom.app and an auto-incrementing version code. As of 2026 a Play Console account is a one-time US$25 with identity verification, new apps upload as AAB, every app needs a privacy policy URL and a Data safety form, and personal accounts opened after November 2023 must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before production access. Regulars make good testers. The process is in publishing on Google Play from the US, UK or EU.

iPhone clients use the web version of the same project, published at a link on appbuilderagent.com and added to the home screen from Safari; that link also belongs on your Google Business profile as the booking link. A native iPhone app means exporting the source (Member plan and above) and building with Xcode or Expo EAS on a Mac, plus Apple's US$99 per year program.

What it costs

At the time of writing: the Free plan includes 500K AI tokens a month (with a free APK download), with all features and no card; a booking app of this size is typically a few hundred thousand tokens to build and refine. Member is $1.49 per 30 days for 5M tokens, unlimited builds and source export. Pro is $5.72 per 30 days for 10M tokens. There is no per-booking, per-chair or per-client fee. Prices can change; check the site.

Salon booking SaaS in the US, UK and EU typically lists monthly plans per location or per staff member, often with a per-booking commission for new clients from the marketplace, and a custom app from an agency runs roughly US$20,000 to $150,000 or more. How much it costs to build an app compares the routes.

Notes for the US, UK, Canada and the EU

  • Tips. US and Canadian clients expect to tip 15 to 20 percent; the app can show a suggested tip on the confirmation and takings summary, paid at the chair. UK and EU shops usually leave tipping informal.
  • Prices. UK and EU prices include VAT; US prices add sales tax where services are taxable (it varies by state); Canada adds GST/HST. Say which applies and the agent formats prices and the CSV accordingly.
  • Deposits and cancellation rules. In the UK and EU a deposit policy has to be clear before booking; showing the rule on the service screen and on the confirmation, not only in a terms page, is enough for most disputes. In the US it is a matter of state consumer law and card network rules on the payment page you use.
  • Privacy. Names, phone numbers, appointment history and colour formulas are personal data. GDPR, UK GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA give clients the right to see and delete it; a privacy notice plus "export my data" and "delete my account" in the profile covers most of it. See a privacy policy for your app. General information, not legal advice.
  • Public holidays. Give the agent the list for your country (US federal holidays, UK bank holidays, Canadian statutory holidays, or your EU member state) so those days show as closed without you blocking each one.

Tip: Run the app alongside your current system for two weeks, entering every booking in both. You will find the two or three rules your shop actually needs (the 4 pm kids cut cut-off, the colour consult that must precede a full colour) and each is one sentence to the agent.

Frequently asked

Do clients need to create an account to book?

You choose. The usual setup is Google sign-in or a name and phone number, so reminders can be sent and the client's history is kept. A guest booking option with just a name and phone can be added for first-time walk-ins.

How do reminders reduce no-shows?

The app schedules a notification the evening before and an hour before each appointment, with a reschedule link. Combined with a deposit or a cancellation window, most shops see fewer empty chairs within the first month.

Can I take deposits?

The app does not process card payments itself. It can require a deposit by showing your existing payment link (Stripe, Square, PayPal) and holding the booking as pending until you confirm it was received, or you take the deposit at the desk for regulars.

Does it replace my current booking SaaS?

It can. The app keeps services, staff, hours and bookings on a hosted backend on the platform's own infrastructure, with an owner calendar and a walk-in form. What you lose is the SaaS marketplace listing; what you gain is no per-booking or per-seat fee.

How much does it cost?

At the time of writing the Free plan includes 500K AI tokens a month (with a free APK download); the Member plan is $1.49 per 30 days with 5M tokens, unlimited builds and source export. A Google Play listing adds a one-time US$25 developer registration.
